I have a Windows 2003 server running exchange 2003 and Veritas Backup Exec
9.1 + Exchange agent to back up exchange mailboxes.

Recently, I've noticed that a message has appeared when attempting to back
up one of the mailboxes
\\servername\Microsoft exchange Mailboxes\username [username] Top of
information Store Inbox .... Outlook 10 message manager (Outlook) is a
corrupt file

I've tried running eseutil with /k, /g, /p separately with no options set
but this doen't appear to have made any difference. Can anyone help.

Many Thanks

Matthew

Its not really corrupt. Stop doing mailbox backups and those
errors will go away. Do, full, online backups of the store and you
will be good.

Oy. Stop that! Dont run eseutil. You will only create problems
for yourself.

Thank you for a speedy repsonse

Please can you clarify what you mean by a full, online backup? Should I not
use the Exchange agent with Veritas Backup Excec?

The messaeg only appears for one users mailbox. If I remove the mailbox and
recreate the user/mailbox will that cure the problem?

Regards

Matthew

Yes, use the agent, but a full, exchange-aware backup of the
storage groups is sufficient enough. I dont think mailbox level
backups provide any value.

maybe, but that error will reappear again. Its bogus.
