MS Documentation, Exchange client compatibility

Hi.  I have a client that wants me to provide Microsoft Documentation that
shows Outlook as being the only client for Exchange 2000/2003 server.  This
client wants to use Thunderbird on his company's computers, but also wants to
maintain access to his Exchange server's GAL, shared calendars, tasks lists,
etc.  I've tried explaining that only Outlook (or OWA) offers access to the
features he wants, as Thunderbird will only get him access to his POP e-mail.
He doesn't understand why and wants me to provide MS documentation.  Is
there any KB article or MS Whitepaper that shows this information?  If
someone could point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!
Josh

Outlook isn't the only method of access to Exchange.
He can use Thunderbird with POP3 and IMAP. For the GAL he can set up
an LDAP address book.
You can use virtually any client you want. The protocols are all
there.
Providing users with documentation on how to connect mail clients to
Exchange has got little to do with Microsoft over and above the Client
Access Guide that is already in the Exchange 2003 Documentation
Library at www.microsoft.com/exchange
