Cannot Reconnect mailbox

Earlier today, I made the grave error of deleting an existing users
acount. Had the AD console up, looked at my email, hit delete, and
before I know it, I've lost an account. As a blessng in disguise, I
hadn't gotten around to installing Exch2k3's administrator tools to my
machine yet, so the mailbox wasn't deleted. I recreated the user's
account, then went into System Manager on the exchange server, ran the
clean up, found her disconnected mailbox, went to reconnect it, and
when I type in her user name, I get an error that reads:

"An object (User or Other object) with the following name cannot be
found: "Usern***@domain.com". Check the selected object types and
location for accuracy and ensure that you have typed the object nam
correctly, or remove this object from the selection."

I've searched all over the web, but can't seem to find a resolution.
I'm going to keep banging my head against the damn thing, but any help
would be immensely appreciated.

-Brad

Did you search AD for this user account?  Could possible be a replication
issue too but I do not know your Topology.

Yes, I search the AD to see if the account was still in the system.
We've got 3 DC's (primary, backup, and offsite) and when i deleted it,
the deletion was replicated throughout the system. On a side note, I
just realized that I can't reconnect this e-mail account to ANY user
account in our AD. When I type any account name into the dialog box for
the reconnect (standard "Select User" box) I'm prompted with the same
error. I tried changing the object types to just User, and I changed
"Entire Directory" to our specific domain, and the error still
presents.

Check your Event Viewer for any related errors when trying to reconnect the
mailbox.  On the existing user you want to reconnect this mailbox, go to
Exchange Tasks in ADUC and insure the user has no existing mailbox or
exchange attributes associated to it otherwise you will not be able to
reconnect.

I don't see any specific error messages being generated in the event
viewer when either locally or on the exchange server when I attempt
another reconnect. As for exchang attributes, I have noticed something
different between this specific account and the rest of the accounts on
our network. The Mailbox store, under the exchange general tab, is
usually listed as "EXCHANGE2003/First Storage Group/Mailbox store" but
under her profile, she's got a Home Server listed as
"domain/domain/EXCHANGE2003". I'm not sure why the domain repeats
twice. Sorry if that doesn't help, I'm looking for anything at this
point. All other Exchange attribute fields are blank.

Try this, create a new temp account and see if you can connect to the
mailbox.  You can also try to recover the deleted account which is what I
would have tried first BTW,

I tried a test account during my troubleshooting today. The account
created fine, without a mailbox, but when I tried to select it, I got
the same error. When I try to select any account in the AD to reconnect
to this mailbox, I get the same error. I'm trying to find a system
state backup, but our AD's aren't part of our BCP right now (we're
pretty small) so unless a system state backup is automatically created
somewhere, I don't think I can restore the account at this point.

Thanks alot for all your help.

I was thinking you could recover from the Offsite server System State since
it probably has not been replicated yet.  In any event, I find it odd you
cannot reconnect the mailbox to any account.  Sounds like the mailbox might
still have an account or guid associated with it.
