We have mixed environment of exch 2000, exch 2003 and exc 2007.
exch 2000 has smtp connector and exch 2007 has the send/receive connector
for outbound email. They both can send and recieve exteranl emails.

We want to decomission exch 2000 but when we shutdown exch 2000 server we
can not send emails out from exch 2003 server.

Is it posible to send exch 2003 mail out via exchange 2007 so we do not have
to setup smtp outbound connector for exch 2003

Have you set up a routing group connector between the Exchange 2003 and
Exchange 2007 routing groups?

The routing group connector is setup. By default it setup exch 2000 as
brigdehead server. Leter we added exch 2003 server too in the default RGC

The emails between these servers works fine. It is only external mail to
internet does not work when exch 2000 server is shutdown.

During off-hours, you can try changing the SMTP Connector's address space to
something unroutable like "clownpenis.fart", replacing the "*".  After
routing recalculates, the Exchange 2003 server should send mail out through
the Exchange 2007 Internet send connector.  Make sure that send connector
has a "*" address space (without the quotes) and IsScopedConnector is
$False.

There is a smtp connector on exch2000 that sends outbound emails dirctly to
internet (orignal before exch 2007).

There are send and recieve connectors on exch2007

Get-SendConnector
Identity                                  AddressSpaces
--------                                    -------------
Mycomapany SMTP Connector    {SMTP:*;1}  (this is on exch 2000 server)
Internet Send Connection           {smtp:*;1}   (this is on exch 2007 server)

Get-ReceiveConnector
Identity                               Bindings          Enabled
--------                                  --------          -------
EXCH2007\Default EXCH2007 {10.1.200.10:25}  True
EXCH2007\Client EXCH2007  {10.1.200.10:587} True

EXCH2007 also sends mail directy to the internet using its send connector.

On exch2007 there is a legayroutinggroup connector. By default it added
exch2000 as bridgehead for legacyroutinggroup while configuring exch2007.
We added 2003 server later to this RG.

Here is the description
