outlook asks for login credentialsweekend, several of our users have found that when they attempt to start Outlook (after logging into the domain with no problem), it pops up a dialog box headed "Connecting to [mailserver.company.org]." This is not supposed to happen, of course- it's all within our WAN, they've logged into the domain, Outlook should simply start working. But, they try to enter their username and password, and it never seems to work- it pops up the same window again and again and again. If you hit cancel about five times, it will then stop asking for your password, and instead say that it can't find your mailbox. Outlook will then close. It's like Exchange has forgotten that these users have AD accounts and actually exist. I've "fixed" this for a few users by using Exmerge to export their mailboxes to a PST file, deleting the mailbox using AD users and computers, re-adding the mailbox the same way, and then importing the PST into the new mailbox - but that is quite time-consuming. I can't find any other info on this in the KB or any forums. Any suggestions for a quicker fix? BFH <B**@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote:

Multiposting wastes everyone's time, including yours, and may lead to your actually getting *less* help rather than more. See http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm Sorry, my mistake - I meant to crosspost and hit send too quickly. Thanks

I suggest you try using a news client, such as Forte Agent, Thunderbird, or even Outlook Express, rather than the icky web interface to the newsgroups. It's a lot easier to do nearly everything that way. You can mark messages to be watched, filter the views so you can see replies to your posts easily, and search. The Microsoft public news server is msnews.microsoft.com and you can subscribe to as many groups as you like; no authentication is required.
