Mailbox Move Issue

Hi. Here's my environment:

2003 AD
4 Exchange 2003 BackEnd
1 Exchange 2003 FrontEnd

My issue is when I move mailboxes, the mailbox still appears to be in the
source mailbox server but only with a few emails. Also when the cleanup agent
runs, there is an "X" next to the username. Is there something wrong? Does
this mean the mailbox was not moved fully? BTW there are no errors during the
move. How can I remove the entry completely from the source server once the
move is complete?

HAve you applied all the latest hotfixes to the Exchanage Servers?
This was fixed in a previous update:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940012
"A stub object is left behind in the source database for certain users
after a move mailbox operation is complete in Exchange 2003 Service
Pack 2"

You could set mailbox deleted retention to 0 on the source server, or
wait till the current retention time expires.

If the user isnt having issues accessing the moved mailbox, then you
should be ok regardless.

Try the Move Mailbox again on that mailbox, it should give you an error,
and delete the old entry. This is not uncommon moving mailboxes during a
transition to a new server.
