Hi I am combining two companies email systems. Both are on Exchange 2003 and
2003 AD. CompanyA will remain so all users and mailboxes will be migrated
from CompanyB to CompanyA. My question is on the cutover date I will have to
point CompanyB's MX record to CompanyA's ip address? Would I have to
configure CompanyA's exchange server to accept emails from CompanyB's domain?

Thanks for the help

Yes.

Add CompanyB's domain to your default recipient policy.  You might want to
create new higher priority recipient policies to apply the CompanyA and
CompanyB addresses to recipients based on whatever criteria you want to use.
You will also need recipients (mailboxes) that have the CompanyB addresses
that are expected to receive mail.

Thanks Ed.

Is there a way to test that CompanyA is receiving email from CompanyB's
domain before the cutover date? For example add CompanyB's domain as per you
instruction and specificaly send emails to CompanyA's MX IP.

Thanks again

Hi,

Is there a link or a white paper you can point me to to configure the
default receipient policy. I can't seem to figure that part out.

Thanks
