Exchange 2003 and VSS as a backup solutionHi
I have been asked to look at using VSS as a backup solution for Exchange 2003, running on windows 2003. Is this something we can use ourselves ? If so any information will be most helpful. Or is it really used for 3rd party backup software to hook into ? Thank you in advance. Phillip -- Phillip Sanderson On Tue, 10 Feb 2009 08:58:03 -0800, Phillipcs

Latest version of BE (11, 12?) has what you need. I have seen a few scripts out there that attempt to leverage VSS with
varying degrees of success. Yes, I do think it would be far better to go with something commercial that you could actually call a support number for. What do you use for backups today? What vendors are currently in your environment? You may want to start there as Mark alludes to. Currently we use NTBACKUP. However the company is expanding rapidly as is
it's email data. So they were looking for a solution to create quick backups and be able to make a copy to our DR site. Thank you for the advice. When I was looking into it I didn't think it would be a case of writing a few scripts and it all worked. -- Show quoteHide quotePhillip Sanderson "John Fullbright" wrote: > I have seen a few scripts out there that attempt to leverage VSS with > varying degrees of success.
