Random Issuelatest service pack. I have had issues on 3 separate occasions that a Custom recipient from the Global Address List has had email sent to them that the senders swears they did not add the person to on the send address areas. In one case the addy was directly added to the to: line and the second it was added to a bcc: line and on the third I have yet to hear back on. I asked to see the header of the Custom recipients email to confirm it was addressed directly to them and came from our server to make sure there was no spoofing . I also looked in the senders sent mail items and located the emails in question and the person is listed in the send fields. It appears it is a human error in adding this Custom Recipient in these cases but the users swear that is impossible. I checked for shortcut key combinations to add the person from the GAL and none were replicate able. The powers to be are requesting I guarantee it is not an Exchange issue. I did many searched on Google and TechNet Knowledgebase’s and see nothing on MTA or SMTP appending addresses on . If I did even find an article, I would suspect it would be random addresses and not the same address. Also I would suspect if it did append it, then I would see no record of it in the sent items rather only record i would see would be the actual smtp log . Has anyone had anything like this , or wish to provide their feedback if they think it’s even possible for Exchange to do this. I need more feedback before I stand with my answer that it was user error Thanks in advance Chris First thing to do is see what these emails look like in the sender's Sent
Items folder. If the've deleted them, see if you can use deleted item recovery to get them back. If those addresses are on the emails in the Sent Items, then you can rule out the mail transport as being the culprit. The email the person recieved was an exact duplicate of what was sent to the other people. So I do think MTA is not the culprit and I think I will verify it is human error on autocomplete or not doublechecking whom they are clicking on . Thanks
