I get the following email returned to me when i try to send to an AOL email
address;

Subject: Delivery Status Notification (Delay)

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE.

Delivery to the following recipients has been delayed

This only occurs when sending to AOL, every other email goes to the intended
recipients. I have checked with AOL that they are not blocking the domain and
they have said No, everything is fine at their end.
What am i missing?
Any help would be appreciated.
I can post more info if required, just don;t know what info to present.
Thanks in advance.

Does delivery eventually fail, and return an NDR?

Are you using a dynamic public IP address? That will cause tons of problems
with delivery - you should forward your outbound mail to a smarthost (such
as your ISP's SMTP server)

If you're using a static public IP, make sure it has a reverse lookup record
in DNS (your ISP would be the one to do this for you). Might ask them to
create it to match your primary MX record (e.g., mail.mydomain.com)

The message never gets to the recipient and the only bounce back is the one
detailed in the first post.
They are sending mail via DNS.
Would it make a difference to this problem if i change it to send via their
ISP's mail servers instead?

So you never get an NDR? What if you use message tracking?

What about the static IP & PTR questions?

Maybe, but it would be better to find the cause.  You might want to crank up
SMTP logging.
