Restoring QuestionHello Exchange gurus:
I have three Exchange 2003 servers in our organization. Two of those Exchange servers have mailbox and public stores, the third one has none (other than default). We backup the exchange servers DISK-to-DISK. The Question: If the first two exchange server (ones with stores)crash and burn, can I restore these stores from DISK-to-DISK backups, on the third Exchange Server? Please advise, or direct me to online resources that'll help me. Appreciate your time.Thank you. No, you will not be able to as the servername is not going to match. You may
get it to work by making some changes to the third server. Please refer to the Exchange recovery guide. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125070.aspx Show quoteHide quote "genghiz" <g**@ghiz.net> wrote in message news:eQKHVAkqJHA.528@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > Hello Exchange gurus: > > I have three Exchange 2003 servers in our organization. But what you can do is remove Exchange and leave the server standing by. When you need it, you can install Exchange 2003 with the /DisasterRecovery switch and then restore the databases. -- Show quoteHide quoteEd Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." .. According to this Microsoft KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555603 it is doable. It works pretty well and actually facilitates easier DR testing as you can do a restore and only re-home a single test user without having to do the whole disaster recovery install of Exchange. There is no harm in trying this solution and seeing how well it works out for you. David A. Bermingham Dave and Ed, thanks for your time. I will test it and let you know.
