Relocating Priv1 & pub1 files

New client had SBS 2003
server failed
no backup
had additional 2003 dc

demoted to to member then back to DC
Installed exch 2003 on it

question:
Had to obviuously create a new domain to do this being that no backup
existed that I can use.
Can I use the original Priv1 & Pub1 files from the SBS 2003 server? We were
able to recover these

thanks
Mike

Well, you created that particular problem yourself when you demoted their
sole remaining DC!

I suggest Quest Recovery Manager for Exchange or Ontrack's PowerControls.

You're welcome. They aren't cheap, but hey, this company didn't have
backups.
Again, though, I'm not sure why you would've demoted a DC and created a new
domain. That only exacerbated the existing problem. You might've been able
to recover more easily if you had not done that.

DC had other issues beides loosing communications with the SBS 2003 server
for monhs, had indication of corrupt AD.
In any usered Powercontrols on it and was able to recover all emails and Pub
files from the Priv1 and Pub1 files. Utility works great.
So they are all set.

thank you
Mike
