Hi Everyone,

We have a Server 2008 Exchange 2007 environment. We have 2 DC's and
Exchange installed on one of the DC's over the last year or so the
company has grown significantly and now are trying to move Exchange
off the DC server and on to its own server.

I was wondering is the process should be as simple as:

1, build new hardware and install Server 2008 and Exchange 2007
2, Configure Exchange connectors and move mailboxes / Replicate Public
folders.
3, Uninstall Exchange from DC.
4, Job done.

Or are there going to be more things involved due to it being
installed on a DC.

Any help or comments welcome.

Thanks

Hi,

It won't be more complicated than that because it is on a DC, it is just
standard process for moving Mailbox enabled Users and any Public Folders to
the new dedicated Exchange Server.

Now if you wanted to remove the DC role from the Exchange Server that would
be another story..

Thanks Oliver.

Another question, After removing Exchange from the Domain controller
will clients need to be reconfigured in order to get mail or will
active directory automatically forward them to the new exchange
server?

thanks

Outlook will be redirected to the new Exchange Mailbox Server and their
profiles updated.
