Uninstall Exchange.  Before that, ensure that everything is moved off the
server, like mailboxes, public folders and connectors.

another question.  Based on the article (kb822931) how can I identify the
first Exchange 2003 server in the AG?  I only found an article how to do so
with Exchange 5.5.  Thanks.

I'm not sure. How many E2003 servers do you have?

we have 28 (2 FE and 26 BE including 3 A/P cluster).  Does the # matter?  I
guess there is no such way like in Exch 5.5 to identify the first Exchanage
2003 in a AG.  I might have to just check each compoment the article
mentioned.

Follow the steps every time you remove an Exchange server because someone
could have moved the roles described in the article at any time.
