Exchange not sending or receiving emails

We have an Exchange 2003 server on a Win2K3 box. All was functioning well up
until early hours of this morning. Now all email flow has completely stopped.
No incoming or outgoing or internal, and it appears that emails are not even
getting to the SMTP Queue and are not sitting in users outbox either. All
services are running and there do not appear to be any obvious event log
errors. If i do a check in the message tracking centre, i only get to the
third item 'Advanced Queue failed to deliver message' and no other message
movement.

HELP!

Can you telnet to port 25 of your bridgehead server, the one to which
inbound SMTP mail is directed, and send a message?

telnet server.domain.com 25
helo you.domain.com
mail from:***@yahoo.com
rcpt to:***@domain.com
data
Subject:Test
This is a test.
..
quit

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/153119

Do you see anything in the outbound queues?

If you post your e-mail domain and a valid e-mail address someone here could
test whether we can get to your server and send a message.

Found It. Our GFI MailSecurity software was causing the issue. Even though i
stopped all of their services during fault finding, it wasn't until i
uninstalled the software that mail started to flow again.

All i have to do now is find out why it was doing this and hope it doesn't
happen again.

Thanks

It's scary how often it ends up being something like that.
