Hi all,
Our exchange 2007 SP1 was having a 10MB attachment limit, it was working
fine but after applying some security updates last week we got a fixed
attachment size below 5MB we checked every setting of the Global and receive
connectors all the same 10MB even with ADSIedit it all looks fine.
so is there a bug somewhere??

You mean a message size limit right? There is no attachment size limit
setting  in Exchange.

I take it you are getting an NDR? What exactly does it say?

Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 552 552 5.2.3 Message exceeds maximum fixed size (state 18).

Ok, that is sending to your org, yes?
What if you send out from Exchange?

Also, is there any SMTP gateway between Exchange and the Internet?

this is the problem we have a gateway and Told the security guys to bypass
for testing they said it's bypassed now, and even from inside to outside it
fails. only from internal to internal to internal no problems.

Well, internal uses the global limit, so if it works there, then its
not an Exchange issue unless the Exchange SMTP connectors were
changed.

Sure its not the gateway that has been changed and is still be used
for both inbound and outbound?

You can tell rather quickly by simply sending a test message and then
checking the internet headers of the message to see what hops its
going through.

the thing is NDR hops is not clear, so I'm looking for a way to customize
the NDR messages.

Still no luck, is there a way to check message size limit through exchange
and find out where it gets blocked?
