Is there a way to import exchange 5.5 email accounts and public folders when the exchange server will not start? The server was moved to a new domain and the account to start the exchange server was lost.  I have reinstalled exchange and tried copying the data folders over to the new install but then exchange will not start.  I installed exchange 2003 on a different server but I do not know how to import or migrate the old data to the new one if I can not get the 5.5 server to start.  I have all the old files and paths intact but every time I try to use them I get the Insufficient Access Rights message. Hi, I have a 5A/2P Exchange 2003 cluster.  When I attempt to bring the nodes offline, the first 4 will go offline, however, the 5th will fail, due to the SMTP virtual server instance failing. All I get in the event viewer are the usual errors Event ID 1024 SMTP Virtual Server Instance 2 (ServerName): Failed to stop service 'SMTPSVC'. Event Id 1004 SMTP Virtual Server Instance 2 (ServerName): Failed to take the resource offline. Event Id 1020 Exchange Information Store Instance (ServerName): Failed to take this resource offline because of timeout. All I get in the cluster log is the following Microsoft Exchange SMTP Server Instance <SMTP Virtual Server Instance 5 (XXXX)>: [EXRES] DwWaitServiceStateChangeToTargetState: service 'SMTPSVC' current state is: stop pending.
