Exhange send permissionsHi guys, we have a little question about Exhange send permissions.
We have a single domain configuration with a single Exchange 2003 Standard Server, all in native mode. We need to put a limitation to a specific group of users to only exchange mail between them but not with internet or other internal users. Only internal messaging within the group. It's this possible with Exchange 2003? Thanks in advance for any comment on this :) Daniel.- Can restrict from sending mail to internet recipients by setting up Delivery
Restrictions on a SMTP Connector with address space *. To restrict from receiving mail from internet recipients, you would have to setup each user to receive mail only from authenticated senders (user properties | Exchange General | Delivery Restrictions | Message Restrictions ->under "Accept messages" check "From authenticated users only". To restrict sending/receiving ONLY between users in a group, you would have to set up restrictions in each user's properties (at the above location, under Message Restrictions: -> check "Only from" and add each user or group that should be able to send to this user. Repeat for every user. OK to do this for really small groups, but you're looking at a mgmt nightmare if you want to do this for a lot of users, imo. Another alternative would be to move them to a server in a different Routing Group with no Connectors to any other Routing Group or to internet. Probably a better solution if you had a lot of users you wanted to isolate. -- Show quoteBharat Suneja MCSE, MCT www.zenprise.com blog: www.suneja.com/blog ----------------------------------------- "News Microsoft" <dabe***@internet.com.uy> wrote in message news:eGkQgmU5FHA.1276@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... > Hi guys, we have a little question about Exhange send permissions. > > We have a single domain configuration with a single Exchange 2003 Standard > Server, all in native mode. > > We need to put a limitation to a specific group of users to only exchange > mail between them but not with internet or other internal users. I dont find in the SMTP connector how to restrict its use only to this group of users, can you guide me? And also, in the Exchange General properties of a user, inside Delivery Restrictions, i see the Message restrictions you talk about but there are talking about receive restrictions, this will as well restrict the user to send messages to the listed users/goups or i have to do another configuration? Thanks! implement Delivery Restrictions. - It will not restrict sending of messages to others. -- Show quoteBharat Suneja MCSE, MCT www.zenprise.com blog: www.suneja.com/blog ----------------------------------------- "News Microsoft" <dabe***@internet.com.uy> wrote in message news:O33Cpkk5FHA.4076@tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... > Bharat, i have some questions about this solution. > > I dont find in the SMTP connector how to restrict its use only to this > group > of users, can you guide me? > > And also, in the Exchange General properties of a user, inside Delivery > Restrictions, i see the Message restrictions you talk about but there are > talking about receive restrictions, this will as well restrict the user to > send messages to the listed users/goups or i have to do another > configuration? > > Thanks! > > Daniel > > > "Bharat Suneja" <bharatsuneja@no.spam.org> wrote in message > news:%23XQVyHV5FHA.2192@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... >> Can restrict from sending mail to internet recipients by setting up >> Delivery Restrictions on a SMTP Connector with address space *. >> >> To restrict from receiving mail from internet recipients, you would have >> to setup each user to receive mail only from authenticated senders (user >> properties | Exchange General | Delivery Restrictions | Message >> Restrictions ->under "Accept messages" check "From authenticated users >> only". >> >> To restrict sending/receiving ONLY between users in a group, you would >> have to set up restrictions in each user's properties (at the above >> location, under Message Restrictions: -> check "Only from" and add each >> user or group that should be able to send to this user.
