Recover Exchange files

Is there a way to import exchange 5.5 email accounts and public folders when the exchange server will not start? The server was moved to a new domain and the account to start the exchange server was lost.  I have reinstalled exchange and tried copying the data folders over to the new install but then exchange will not start.  I installed exchange 2003 on a different server but I do not know how to import or migrate the old data to the new one if I can not get the 5.5 server to start.  I have all the old files and paths intact but every time I try to use them I get the Insufficient Access Rights message. Is there a way to take the pub.edb and priv.edb files and import them to a different exchange server?

Easiest/fastest thing at this point is to get yourself a copy of Recovery
Manager for Exchange (www.quest.com) or the similar utility from OnTrack
(Power Controls? I prefer the Quest tool).

Otherwise, you could restore from backup to a recovery server, but you don't
mention whether you have backups of the entire Exchange server, whether this
is an entirely new domain now, etc....

I'm presuming someone made a booboo and this 'move to a new domain' was not
part of your official plan to migrate, right?
