SMTP Virtual Server Instance Failing

Hi, I have a 5A/2P Exchange 2003 cluster.  When I attempt to bring the nodes offline, the first 4 will go offline, however, the 5th will fail, due to the SMTP virtual server instance failing. All I get in the event viewer are the usual errors Event ID 1024 SMTP Virtual Server Instance 2 (ServerName): Failed to stop service 'SMTPSVC'. Event Id 1004 SMTP Virtual Server Instance 2 (ServerName): Failed to take the resource offline. Event Id 1020 Exchange Information Store Instance (ServerName): Failed to take this resource offline because of timeout. All I get in the cluster log is the following Microsoft Exchange SMTP Server Instance <SMTP Virtual Server Instance 5 (XXXX)>: [EXRES] DwWaitServiceStateChangeToTargetState: service 'SMTPSVC' current state is: stop pending. However, the funny thing is that it is the last node I shutdown, meaning if I shut them down in a different order, a different node fails, eg, node 2 fails instead of node 5. Anyone have any ideas ??
