Connecting to Exchange Server via RPC over HTTPS

Can anyone tell me why when I enter my exchange server address using the
public mx record I had my ISP to create for the server it always want to
resolve to the local computer name of the server.  Which the WWW will not
recognize.  It will not stay mail.xxxxxxxx.org.  I do have the exchange
server behind a pix 515e.  Is it something to do with my ISP or the pix515e?
Please advise....

Oh, when I access the OWA using the FQDNS mail.XXXXXXXX.org it's fine.

If you create a mapi profile over the Internet it gets a bit
complicated and you need to cancel a couple of times.
In the actual Exchange server box you need to enter the internal fqdn
of the real exchange server. You then go into more settings and do the
rpc/https bits using the external fqdn that you see from the Internet
which must be the same as the certificate name (no match = instant
show-stopper)
Once you've got the rpc/https bits in you can go back to the exchange
server and mailbox name screen and do the check name. You'll get
prompted for the credentials and then you'll find the internal name
and your mailbox name "magically" become underlined (obviously it'll
take a little longer, depending on your Internet links from where you
sit back to the server)
Granted it can throw you a bit but you do still use the internal name
on the exchange server page.
