RUS service created for domain without any Exchange servers

I have a Windows 2003 domain running in 2000 native mode and 200 forrest
level. In another domain I have my Exchange servers. I created a RUS service
for that domain, and have been getting MSExchangeAL errors in my eventlog. I
have tried making one of 2003 Exchange clusters or my 2000 Exchange cluster
as the replication master for this domain, but both servers get 8270 errors.

The groups Exchange Domain Server and Exchange Enterprise servers do exist
in that domain, but for some reason the Exchange Services group does not
exist, and I have re-run Domain prep and it doesn't get created. I tried to
create it manually, but it didn't fix the issue either.

Anyone have some insight to this?

Hi Chris,

Have you taken a look at the following article?

313167 LDAP error message is logged after you install Exchange in multiple
domains
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;313167

Cheers,

Hi Chris,

Are you (or were you) running in Exchange Mixed mode with the ADC service
installed?  If this is not the case, then we would not expect to have an
Exchange Services group.

Where is the Exchange Enterprise Servers group and Domain Servers group
located?  If they are not in the default Users container, this may be what's
causing the problem:

290419 "No such object on the server" error message when you create an
Exchange Recipient Update Service
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;290419

Cheers,

Hi Eric, at one time we did run the ADC, but we do not anymore, which would
explain why the Exchange Services groups does not exist in that domain.

The Exchange Enterprise Servers and Domain servers are both in the deafult
location (Users OU). I made that mistake of moving them out of there a long
time ago and learnt they need to stay in their default location.
