Recover Public Folder Store

Can anyone help me with recovering an old Public Folder store? I have
the files "pub1.edb" and "pub1.stm" on a  hard disk, and could get
hold of a copy of Exchange 2003 Enterprise. I am only after one folder
from the store, so would export it to PST and import it to my existing
Exchange server.

Environment is Windows Small Business Server 2003, recently migrated
to new hardware. I basically followed a procedure similar to the one
outlined in the sbsmigration.com - backup Exchange (export mailboxes
and Public Folders to pst), add second DC, remove SBS machine from
network, add new server as DC, remove all AD info on old SBS server,
make new server SBS, restore email. It all worked fine but for one
oversight - I did not export one Public Folder to pst and import. I
now really need this PF, but do not have any form of backup.

I do, however, still have the Hard Disk from the old SBS machine, with
Exchange in the state that it was prior to migration. I can copy any
files from it, but cannot boot, as it is a Dynamic Disk, and I brought
it over to another machine, to copy files from it.

The Exchange server did not crash, so all Exchange files should be in
good order.

Any help appreciated.

If you create your recovery SBS Server with same name, ip, etc., once
running you should be able to copy over the pub.edb and pub.stm file from th
old hard drive and mount them on the recovery server.  Once mounted, you can
simply open Outlook client and export data from PF.

Woo hoo!

Created the recovery server, ticked the "This database can be
overwritten by a restore" box, then stopped the Information Store. I
then renamed the MDBDATA directory, copied the entire MDBDATA
directory from original servers disk over to recovery server,
restarted the Information Store, and Bob was my mother's brother. PF
is now on production server, and I can now sleep at night.

Thanks for your assistance, John.

David.
