Receiving same mail over and over and over ...

Deubster

Help. A small office on Win2003 Small Business Server. One (and only one)
of the users gets his mail resent to him every 2 hours. He got 517 emails
yesterday, almost all the same stuff - not new spam that we've seen again &
again, but the same personal email from his secretary showing up throughout
the day.

What's going on? How do I fix it?

Oh, forgot to mention. The user has Outlook 2003. Compared his AD account
settings, System Mgr settings, and Outlook settings with other users who
don't have the problem, couldn't find anything obviously different. Might
have overlooked something, though.

Hi Deubster,

It would sound like you have a loop somewhere. I suggest you log on to the
account and check all message rules and any forwarding or out of office
settings. Once you have a list of addresses that are forewarded too or
deligated too check these mailboxes, especially if they are external with
limited storage and, therefore, may be bounce due to their storage limit
being reached. You will find that somewhere there is a set of circumstances
that forms a mail loop.

You may also find that message tracking may allow you to visualise the
'path' the message takes.
