Hello-

We are unable to relay email to an office in England.  They CAN send to us.
I am using Exchange 2003 and a Windows 2003 server.  I am also using Mail
Essentials for Exchange 11.  I'm not and expert at either one...learning as i
go!
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
James

sorry...forgot to add the NDR
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server.
Please contact your system administrator.
            <%domain name% #5.5.0 smtp;553 sorry, that domain isn't in my
list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)>

Thanks for the response Loay.  Never used telnet.  Before i ask you for
details on how to use it, I have another comment to add.
It may be a dns issue.  I recently demoted a dc in my location the ran dhcp
and dns.  After the demotion, computers with dynamic ip addresses were
picking up their dns from an old server that I forgot was running dhcp. This
was causing a list of other problems.  When i found this server, i
uninstalled dhcp and dns.  I also pointed the prim and sec dns to the correct
servers and the problem was resolved.
Do i need to contact the ISP in UK and tell them anything?  Sorry I'm not
more specific, but i'm learning as i go.

Here is a great article about how to user telnet to troubleshoot Exchange
server communication.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q153119/
and this one, for how to use telnet to troubleshoot your dns connections http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Using-NSLOOKUP-DNS-Server-diagnosis.html

Then I'm sure you will solve your problem :)

Thanks Loay..

I was just starting to read one of the articles when someone came in and
told me they were able to email the UK office today.  I sent a test myself
and it was delivered successfully.  That's great but I'm curious to know what
happened and how it was resolved.  Do you think there is any way to find out
what the problem was?
