Hi

Has anyone experienced any problems with setting up an Exchange server as an
FTP Server aswell, if you're only using the FTP service on occasions?

If you mean, should you open up FTP access from the Internet on your
Exchange server, then no, don't do it. You will have a lot of uninvited
guests ere long.

Security is the reason not to do it, and you can't possibly enable FTP, use
it,  & then disable it faster than some hijacked computer on the Internet
can start trying to attack you. I wouldn't do it if it were me. If you have
an external web hosting account, they probably offer FTP services as
well....you might check that out as an alternative.

Hi Lanwench

Thank you for you help and explanation - it's much appreciated. I was asking
on behalf of one of our forum members at pchelpforum.com, it's a free site to
help others with various PC issues, but I felt that this question needed to
be clarified with someone with a bit more tech experience to be sure, hence
using Technet  :o)

Thank you again. If you'd like to, you can see the thread here: http://www.pchelpforum.com/server-nt-2000-2003/18024-exchange-server-also-ftp-server.html#post120502

Thanks again
