License / Product Key Missing

Hello,

I need to install Exchange 2003 on a new server we just purchased, but can't
find
the license or product key info for it. We currently have it installed on a
server we want to retire. Is there any way to get this info through Microsoft
or from Exchange itself?

Thanks,
Russ W.

If you used Volume Licensing, You can call them from here:
https://licensing.microsoft.com/eLicense/L1033/Overview.asp

Thanks for the link Martin.

The problem is, I don't know how they did this. They had this done by a
previous IT company and there's no documentation to be found.

Are you sure you even have a legal license then?
Do you have a proof of purchase?

I'm sure it is. All I can find is an Exchange 5.5 disc, but they now have 2003.
Do you think I can refer to the info on the 5.5 disc's?

Thanks Again,
Russ W.

No.....but you might try running a report using Belarc Advisor
(www.belarc.com) - I know it will provide the product keys used for a lot of
MS software. Don't know about Exchange, but it's worth a shot.  You might
also try contacting the previous support people to find out what they
know/remember/will fess up to.

The client should have *some* sort of proof of purchase if they actually
paid for E2003, I'd think. If they don't, it's possible they're using a
"fell off the back of a truck" copy, and they'll need to rectify that.
