Deploying SENDER ID with SP2

Does sender id really that good or should I not implement this?  I read this
kb, http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=905214 .  It's scary,
though.

I have one exchange server which is stand alone and our ADs are on another
two separate servers.  Therefore, I have only one virtual smtp.

Does online backup (MS default) will give me a quick restoration later on if
disaster happened?

Please advise.

Thanks,
Ricky

- That's a hotfix (905214) that needs to be applied before you enable Sender
ID.
- There's **no** guarantee SenderID will crash Exchange without that hotfix
applied - we haven't been able to replicate that (crashing) yet.

- SenderID protects you from header spoofing and you can make sure a message
claiming to be from foo.com domain is actually being sent by mail servers
authorized to send for foo.com. Not everyone has SPF records yet, but it
definitely makes sense to use it. The default action is Accept, which will
add Sender ID status to the message for further processing by other
messaging hygiene components like IMF.

- Online backup of Exchange backs up Stores and Transaction Logs. You could
in addition backup your filesystem where Windows OS and Exchange binaries
are installed - always a good idea. However, SenderID will not have any such
consequences that may require you to restore anything from tape, imo.

OK.  It's working do I need to add ip perimenter for each Canon printer
email-printing-scanning (this is a feature with canon printer to scan the
pages and then send it automatically by email in an attachment of pdf).  And
also do I need to add virtual smtp for the ip of each canon printer we have.

Thanks,
Ricky
