GroupWise Coexistence

I have done couple of these migrations from Groupwise 5x to windows 2000 or
2k3. Now I researching on a up and coming project to do migration from 6.5 to
2k3. There seems to be an issue GroupWise API is old technology and seems it
is not supported. Let me rephrase that you cannot create it using ConsoleOne
and maybe i can getway with using the older Snapins say from GW 5.5 for
NWAdmin.

I see the utility by Novell Gateway for Exchange, has anyone used that for
migration? any issues ? do you recommend using that? Or I am wrong into
thinking that is a proper solution?

Is there something developed by Microsoft that will help create coexistence
other than API gateway?

Thanks

Jitesh

Hi,

I have done such a migration and you are correct, NWAdmin must be used for
the configuration of the gateway.

I thought so, do you know if MS is working on developing other than API
gateway for the CO-existence?

Thanks

Hi,

I don't believe that they are working on any more GroupWise coexistance.

Ok then what happens when a client wants to migrate to Exchange 2003. I
seriously doubt they would migrate all their mailboxes at once. There has to
be a short term coexistence till the migration is fully completed.

Hi,

You can still use the API and the groupwise connector in Exchange 2003 -
this works without any major problems. You just have to configure the API
with nwadmin.

Hi Leif

I read your responses on the TechNet newsgroup, I'm into a situation where
I'm stuck with GroupWise and Exchange 2003 coexistance and don't know where
to go, we are runing GroupWise 7.0 and Exchange Server 2003 SP2, I bough a
migration tool from Quest Software to migrate the mailboxes, but we need to
have coexistance for a few months while we migrate 19 offices (580 users).
Any help where I can start and how to configure the GroupWise connector that
comes bundle with Exchange 2003? Thank you in advanced.

Cheers
