issue regarding exchange 5.5 migrationHi all. I am currently conducting a migration of exchange 5.5 sitting on a
NT4.0 domain controller to another new machine with exchange 2003 on windows 2003. I installed windows NT4.0 on the new machine as BDC of my exisiing domain then upgrade it to PDC. I then did a upgrade installation to convert it to windows 2003. After windows 2003 is done, i proceed to active directory installation. I chose the default option "domain in a new forest" (it seems the other 2 options could not work) and was prompt to key in a dns name. However i could not key in the existing domain name and must key in a new domain name as i would be prompted that the name already exist in network. However i would like to retain my domain name since its use for my mail purposes in exchange. Is there any suggestion? Thks in advance. Hi,
When upgrading a PDC to windows 2003 it should automatically retain the netbios name of the domain. You should enter a DNS name (like netbiosname.local) I assume that this name is not the same as the original name?
