Hi,

I have been getting this error for a while now.  It only happens on my PC.
I did have problems with OAL generation but those have been resolved while
the 0x8004010F errors persist.  Since fixing the problems with the OAL I
have recreated my profile in an attempt to get rid of the 0x8004010F error
message.  I have read the articles about the OAL not pointing to a valid
address list but it does not apply to me.  Does anyone have a solution?

TIA,

Jarryd

Hi,

I have already read that article.  As I said, "I have read the articles
about the OAL not pointing to a valid address list but it does not apply to
me."  I have checked on other machines and they don't have this problem.  I
have checked the Send/Receive settings in Outlook and they appear to be
correct.  I have even deleted my Outlook profile and recreated it.  This
error only happens on th Outlook client on my PC when connecting to my
profile.  What I have noticed is that my Outlook profile only wants to
download the Offline Address Book List.  All others download \Global Address
List.  Does anyone know why?

TIA,

Jarryd

The client caches a reference to the OAB.  In certain migration scenarios,
the reference on the client is invalid.  In those cases, from outlook
tools - accounts  -change -view or change existing directories or adress
books, remove the address book and then add it back. This will create a new
reference.

Hi John,

I have removed the existing address books but it hasn't helped.  I have
deleted the all the profiles and all the files in the app data outlook
folder, recreated the profile and still OL wants to download the Download
Offline Addres Book List and I can't selecet anything else.  All other
clients have \Default Address List as their only option and they don't get
the error.  What else could I try.  I ran the detect and repair but it
didn't help.

TIA,

Jarryd,

About the only other thing I can think of is language localization.  If the
client is localized in a different language, and the suffer doesn't have
codepages etc. installed for that language, then download of the OAB will
fail.  You have to intall support for the same languages on the server via
control panel regional settings, then regenerate the OAB.

I muck around with asian language clients at times and have seen this issue
before.

Hi,

Try the following:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=905802

....and then rebuild the Offline address book.

I posted in the other thread and sent it short, so I appoligize.

By default the OAB when being built will filter out Expired and Invalid
certifications. If you turn up diagnostic logging for OAL Generation, you
can see this.

The 0x8004010F error is just a generic error and is thrown a lot when there
are download problems.

C:\WINXP\system32>err 0x8004010F
# for hex 0x8004010f / decimal -2147221233
  ecNotFound                                                     ec.h
  ecAttachNotFound                                           ec.h
  ecUnknownRecip                                             ec.h
  ecPropNotExistent                                           ec.h
  MAPI_E_NOT_FOUND                                mapicode.h

One thing you can do is to check the mailbox store that the user is on and
make sure that there is a Default Offline Address List associated with that
store. When clients download their respective OAB they are grabbing this
information from the information store that their mailbox is on.

One this I would suggest is to turn up diagnostic logging from within
outlook so we can see what address list this client is looking for.

Here is one more great blog on Outlook Client logging:
http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/03/29/423532.aspx

You can also run OABInteg /s:exchsrvr name /t:oabfldcheck /v:2 /l. This rest
will simulate the Offline Address List download. then you can run OABInteg
/s:exchsrvr name /t:hierarchytest /v:2 /l. This test will dump out the
entryid's for the folders in the store. Then you can match up the entryid's
from both dumps to see where that client is trying to go.

In regard to OAB and Certificates, here is a good blog you can read about
this process.
