Multiple people using 1 mailbox HELP !!We have a few mailboxes that we need multiple people to have access to, I never had a problem doing this using exchange 2000 and outlook 2000 but since I upgraded I can not get it to work (upgraded to exchange 2003 and outlook 2003) example john***@abc.com is set up on exchange as a mailbox and jane***@abc.com both need access to sa***@abc.com and supp***@abc.com previously I would just set up their account then add sales and support under the advanced tab on the exchange server where it says open these additional mailboxes. Since I changed over john***@abc.com and jane***@abc.com their mailbox works fine, I added sales and support to john***@abc.com and that worked fine, but when I added them to jane***@abc.com it comes up with unable to display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook could not access the specified folder location. I have not run into this problem before, I do not know if there is something I need to do different with Exchange 2003 or Outlook 2003 that I am missing. Thank you Mell Q. Why not just create a distribution group called Sales and Support then
add John and Jane? - Jason (Tn IT Guy) Show quote "Ky IT Guy" <kyit***@gmail.com> wrote in message news:usklockiGHA.4912@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Thanks in advance for the help here is the situtation > > We have a few mailboxes that we need multiple people to have access to, I > never had a problem doing this using exchange 2000 and outlook 2000 but > since I upgraded I can not get it to work (upgraded to exchange 2003 and > outlook 2003) > > example > > john***@abc.com is set up on exchange as a mailbox and jane***@abc.com > > both need access to sa***@abc.com and supp***@abc.com > > previously I would just set up their account then add sales and support > under the advanced tab on the exchange server where it says open these > additional mailboxes. > > Since I changed over john***@abc.com and jane***@abc.com their mailbox > works > fine, I added sales and support to john***@abc.com and that worked fine, > but > when I added them to jane***@abc.com it comes up with unable to display > the > folder. delegate access ? This may be more fiddly , 'cos I can't remember if ou have to delegate access to each folder in turn... -- Show quoteRhidian Thomas Senior Computer Officer (Servers) "Jason Martin" wrote: > Q. can see when the email has been read and organized into one of the subfolders under the Sales / Support mailbox heading and can also see when someone has replied and what the reply was, I am afraid if I do it this way that they will all recieve the message but not know who is taking care of it. Exchange Advanced Tab/ Mailbox Rights. Then use the Advance settings within Outlook Exchnage account settings to add additional mailboxes. Each user would have their own mailbox tree as well as the shared tree. That will allow each user to see what is unread or not. Another option is to uses public folders but this will not give you the read unread options you want as each user would make the items unread on their own. That worked, (I am not sure how I over looked that as many times as I was going through everything trying to find what it could possibly be.)
