Fix Outlook Clients Cache ModeIs there a way to for Outlook 2003 to flush all its settings.. or something
like that? After Office 2003 upgrade / install some of my clients cannot run in cache mode when the did in the past. Unble to load default folders. I have tried a new outlook profile and also tested with a new user windows profile. nothing fixes it except non cache mode. My exchange server is off site so I would like to keep my cache mode. Thanks What bandwidth do you have between sites ? We actually hate cached mode-
Outlook seems to run just fine over a 512Kb up/ 247 Kb down network- the hit on people's PCs when cached mode kicks in was just unbelievable, plus we're trying to move away from any sort of PST full stop. Anyhow- what version of Exchange are you on? I've just found an office document that says Outlook 2003 works best in cache mode on Exchange 2003 -- Show quoteRhidian Thomas Senior Computer Officer (Servers) "Adam" wrote: > Is there a way to for Outlook 2003 to flush all its settings.. or something > like that? > > After Office 2003 upgrade / install some of my clients cannot run in cache > mode when the did in the past. > Unble to load default folders. > > I have tried a new outlook profile and also tested with a new user windows > profile. nothing fixes it except non cache mode. > > My exchange server is off site so I would like to keep my cache mode. > > Thanks > > > My Bandwidth is good. avg 2048 / 1956.
I am running Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2003. So yes I could just skip the cache mode usage.. I know its a debated issue to cache or not to cache. Eventually I am going to have my server in-house so it will be a non issue in a matter of months. Although I still like cache mode for laptops. But I could also use RPC over HTTP for use when out of office too?? - Kind of going off topic here but what do you think about that? I don't like the fact that I cannot connect to the exchange server in cache mode on some systems when I could in the past on all. This all started after a scripted install of Office 2003 was deployed. Most of the systems with this problem had Office XP before with Outlook 2003. After the install when you look in add remove programs they have office XP, Office 2003 and Outlook 2003. I manually removed office XP and outlook 2003. Then in most cases had to manualy add Outlook 2003 back in though the office install. Had to refresh their windows profile, (delete and recreate), since there we isssues opening word and excel - kept running the "first time" initalization script. Anyway, once I did all that eveything works find in office except cache mode. Even is I log in as a completle new user the the PC no Cache mode. Thanks Yes I have SP2.
I figured it out. It was the scripted install. There was an option to set the default folder for PSTs. This option effected the OSTs as well. Was pointing to a nonexisting folder. So no OST created. When I create and point to OST. Then I got my Cache payments :-) "Lanwench [MVP - Exchange]" <lanwe***@heybuddy.donotsendme.unsolicitedmail.atyahoo.com> wrote in message Show quote news:un3fa68iGHA.1276@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > > > In news:eNT1zeyiGHA.3884@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl, > Adam <Adam@nospam.ni> typed: >> Ok so with all the said is their a way to fix my clients to use Cache >> mode?
