Exchange 2007 - Adding Alias to DL Error

I am trying to add an alias to an existing DL. When I add the SMTP address
and click ok or apply I get this error:

The proxy address "dispa***@domain.com" is already being used by
"DOMAIN/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/Dispatch Notifications". Please
choose another proxy address.

It is true that this e-mail address did exist at one time, however it was
deleted. When you try to send an e-mail to the address the exchange server
rejects it.

What else can I do? I've tried searching AD about can't locate it.

Fixed...

AD was hiding the MS Exchange System Objects OU. Had to view advanced
features and then delete the object.
