Exchange 2003 External users cannot Reply ToExchange 2003 server has third party POP3 client that retrieves email from email server. (Don't yell at me...this is how it was setup prior to my being here!). Client refers email to Exchange, then user retrieves messages using Outlook. Outgoing using SMTP. The issue: Logins and internal mail looks like this... jsm***@company.com Internal emails back and for work fine, incoming and outgoing. However, the person that setup the email accounts for the company, setup the external mailboxes as: joe.sm***@company.com If external users send email using the joe.smith email, POP3 refers to Exchange alias properly and internal user gets message. Internal user replies to message and does get sent out external user. However, if external user tries to reply on that message, they get an error "No such user" as the Reply To address now has the internal email. I'm being dumb here, but can't remember how to fix this. Can anyone help me here? Most likely you are going to have to change the internal Exchange address to
match the external address. Not sure why this was setup originally with two different mail addresses. I would explain to the company the benefit of having Exchange host the SMTP mail and dump POP3. -- Show quoteJohn Oliver, Jr MCSE, MCT, CCNA Exchange MVP 2008 Microsoft Certified Partner <online***@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:1191946165.599205.180920@o3g2000hsb.googlegroups.com... > Current Setup: > Exchange 2003 server has third party POP3 client that retrieves email > from email server. Unfortunately, I work for a company where the "sys admin" (and I use the term loosely) took it upon himself to do things his way and doesn't understand the consequences of his actions. I'm sure everyone knows that kind of person. Thanks for your help anyway. |
