migrate 2003 to 2007

Hi

I want to migrate from Windows / Exchange 2003 32bits to Windows 2003 64
bits / Exchange 2007 64 bits but I don't have any experience doing this type
of operations so I really need your help.

1) What type of arquitecture (load balance? ; other?) should I implement
with an universe of 2000 users where their mailboxes are going to be keep in
a storage

2) What processor and memory to buy (server)?

3) Raid 5 is the best to this case? If so should it be with just 3 disks or
with more disks (ie 6 with less capacity) so the write/read is faster?

You really need to engage a consultant to work this through with you.
There are several roles that are introduced with Exchange 2007 and the
consultant will look at your current systems and design the right
number and size of servers.

CCR for the backend, 2 Hub Transport Servers (one holding the File Witness
Share), 2 CAS with NLB/HLB, 2 Edge Transport Servers.

Quad Core fast ones. 8-16 GB per server, you can never have too much RAM!

RAID 10 :) How big will mailboxes be? 2 GB x 2000 users adds up, plus
backing up to disk...

Doubt: CCR for the backend (passiv mode?) and for the rest for the frontend
(active mode?)

Doubt: Quad Core but with each processor? Can you advice me a IBM or HP
server to this solution, please?

Doubt: Isn't raid 10 a little expensive for the beneficts? The disks must
have 400GB space to keep all the mailboxes according to the quotas we are
going to atribute

Here is where the other advice comes in, hire a consultant :) I was speaking
in general. Though I do prefer HP over IBM or Dell, but they will all work.

As an HP employee, I recommend that you consider the new C-class blade
enclosures because of their power, cooling and cabling savings.  But you'd
ultimately have to decide whether you'd be able to load it enough to benefit
from it.

Agreed, contact a Microsoft Certified Partner to assist you.  Ask them how
many Exchange 2007 installs/migrations they have completed and get
references.  You did not say what hardware vendor you are using but they can
be of some assistance.  I prefer Dell Computer and their Server Account
Managers can provide some insight to load sizing.
