I am wanting to know how I can attain knowledge on how much mail has gone
through an exchange server in a certain period (lets say one month) of time.
And whether this can be broken down into how many emails each user on the
server has sent in that period!

Can any one help?

- For the environment as a whole - you would have to use a reporting product
like Quest Message Stats or Promodag.
- The info can be found in Message Tracking logs (and some in SMTP logs as
well).
- You could import MT logs into a DB or use a tool like Log Parser to do
reporting - if you're comfortable taking that approach.

I use ActiveXperts network Monitor for that; I don't monitor throughput, but
monitor SMTP queulenth instead.I used an ActiveXperts script for that,
written in VBScript. It makes use of the Exchange performance counters.

I hope this helps you out,
