thanks the reply from John Oliver, Jr about mounting a mail store

after a mail store mounted, is it possible to restore a single mailbox in
existing AD and exchange environment (no any isolation)? i just restored the
backup to another exchange server and mounted the mail store, actually i
can't reconnect the mailbox and it shows that existing user connnected

thanks in advance

Hi - if you have already started an existing message thread here, it's best
to keep replies in the thread, so it's easier to follow.

I'm not sure of the context here, as there's no background information. If
you want to restore a single mailbox, the Recovery Storage Group and exmerge
are your best bet.

Yes, that's correct. You'll need to do full recovery of your information
store backup to spare hardware, and then exmerge.

thanks

but another question is that isolate the exchange recovery server from
existing AD and exchange environment is needed in this situation. so steps
are clone the AD server, integrated with the exchange recovery server and
also isolate from existing AD environment, last reconnect the mailbox and
using exmerge to restore
