Push updated AD password to remote Exchange ActiveSync device??Currently our users have to manually update Exchange ActiveSync after they
change their AD password. Is it possible to automatically push an updated password to a remote Windows Mobile 5/6 device, instead of forcing the users to manually update the device according to our password expiry policy? Roger (?)
No this isn't possible (yet). Future versions of Windows Mobile may support this through System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008, but this isn't released until next year. SCMDM uses BlackBerry style activation, where a user enters their email address and a one use PIN in to a client on the device. It isn't clear if this client will be available for WM5/6, but I doubt it will be. I also do not know if this replaces the need to enter user details in to ActiveSync, but as it adds the device to AD I'm hoping it does. Check out http://www.microsoft.com/systemcenter/mobile/ and http://blogs.msdn.com/jasonlan/ for more info. Daniel Noakes |
