exchange server delivers mail late

I have had several people in my firm tell me that there are times where
people don't get emails they send.  One occurance yesterday was I was
updating our spam filter and so several services were restarted in the
process and after that one person in our office said that about 20 emails
were received by their friends that had been sent a few months ago.  It was
as if they were sitting in the queue or something.  It seems the queue is
functioning properly now, but is there something I can look into?  Would
journaling cause this problem?

thank you for the reply, although my  user says that the emails never got
there until yesterday so according to them it isn't a situation where the
emails were duplicated, they were just hanging somewhere until yesterday.
They also claim that this happens on occasion where emails won't get through
but there are no delivery notifications.

If you have a recent example you could try and use Message Tracking to pin
point the problem.

Thanks I will take a look, but if I didn't have it enabled will it be able to
get any information from the past or does it have to be enabled and logging
to get information?
