Hi,

In our organisation (1100 mailboxes) we often have the problem that users
are complaining about "outlook problems".
They say that the sometimes click on an e-mail and have to wait several
seconds before the contents of the mail is shown.
I looked into the problem and used the troubleshooting analyzer from
microsoft and also exmon.
The analyzer says there is a huge rpc load on my exchangeserver. In exmon I
see this also.
So I picked a user with many (250) packets in exmon and looked at his
outlook. I see that this user has enabled 5 calenders from other collegues
and
is filling them with appointments at the same time.
Now I now this is done in the organisation by many people in the same way.
Can this be my problem? What can I do about this?

Thx.

Ramon

What version and SP level on Exchange, Windows server, Windows desktop, and
Outlook, please?

Are you using OL2003/cached mode?

How many items per folder, on average?

Hi,

Exchange 2003 SP2 and windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP 1
Outlook version 2003 SP 2. Clients are all terminalservers (Server 2003 with
SP1)

We don't use the cached mode.

There are about 20 users that have more than 5000 items in their folders.
Some of them about 11000.
All the others are between 10 and 5000 items.  I think an average of them is
about 1000 items.

Thx.

Ramon

In Terminal Services, that isn't even an option, sadly.

OK. That's going to cause problems.

All I can suggest is dealing with the mailbox sizes/# of items, to see if it
resolves (or even just alleviates)  the problem.
