Hi
I have set up another Exhcnage 2003 server on a second W2003 server. This is
to provide a second strogae group. However I cannot seems to send emails - but
I can receive them. I also get a Microsoft Exhcange Offline Address book
synch error 0x8004010F.
GC and GAB are all present and seems OK.
I have added the new server as a bridghead server, and set the Default SMTP
virtual server to be set up the same. I have checked the offline address book
in recipient policy's. In fact I have done everything I can think of to
ensure that it works
BUT I cannot fathom why it does not sreceive emails but sends them OK.
Any suggestions welcome
TIA
Lewej

If you can't send messages from one server to the other, then the replica of
the offline address book system public folder wouldn't be sent from the old
server to the new one, so these problems might be related.

Just a wild-ass guess:  Do you have a smarthost defined in the SMTP virtual
server on either Exchange server (particularly the first one)?  If so,
remove it.  If you need to send outbound mail to a smarthost, configure it
in the SMTP Connector.  If you don't have an SMTP Connector, then you need
one with an address space of "*", which means send all Internet mail except
for domains Exchange is responsible for through this connector.

Hi Ed

Thanks for the reply. Good wild-ass guess. It has helped, but things are
still not quite right.
Looking at the queues, the new server is now happy, it is sending out to the
'old' server OK. The old server is still having problems connecting to the
new server, and things remained in the queue for a bit, but now the 'new
server' queue has dissapeard from the list; and I have another queue for
deferred delivery (which is empty).
Messages are still not getting to 'new server'. They seem to be dissapearing
out of queues but not appearing in mailbox.
TIA
Lewej

Are the two servers in the same routing group?  If they're in different
routing groups do you have a routing group connector defined?
